Paper on evaluating an AR prototype accepted for the 15th International Conference on Wirtschaftsinformatik (WI)
We are thrilled to announce that the paper Evaluating the User Experience of an Augmented Reality Prototype for Enterprise Architecture has been accepted for presentation and publication at the 15th International Conference on Wirtschaftsinformatik (WI). The paper was authored by Kevin Rehring and Frederik Ahlemann.
In this paper, the authors evaluated a previously developed augmented-reality (AR)-based prototype that visualizes exemplary enterprise architectures (EA) in the form of a three-layer model. AR application promises improvements in terms of understanding complex architectural relationships and enables a more natural manipulation of visualizations, ultimately leading to better decision-making in organizations. As part of a Design Science Research (DSR) project, this paper reports on an empirical evaluation of user experience of an EA visualizing prototype used with a Microsoft HoloLens. The participants performed 13 tasks which differed in complexity and context. In this study, the authors qualitatively observed the users’ behavior. The results indicate that AR is suitable for analyzing EA. In particular, stakeholders less experienced with EA can benefit from utilizing its visualizations in AR.
Founded in 1993, the International Conference on Wirtschaftsinformatik (WI) is the largest conference on information system (IS) in Germany. The 2020 conference theme, "Changing Landscapes - Shaping Digital Transformation and its Impact," aims to provide impulses for the further development of digital technologies and their impact on individuals, organizations, and society.
