Publication of a paper in the new anthology “Neue Algorithmen für praktische Probleme"
We are proud to announce that the article “Meinungsprognosen mithilfe von sozialen Netzwerken – künstliche Intelligenz als neues Instrument zur Wahlprognose“ (Opinion predictions with the help of social networks - artificial intelligence as a new tool for election prediction) was published in the book “Neue Algorithmen für praktische Probleme - Variationen zu Künstlicher Intelligenz und Künstlichem Leben”.
In the past, election forecasts made by major opinion research institutes often did not correspond to the correct election results. This was the case, among others, for various state elections as well as for the election to the German Bundestag in 2017. In their paper, Erik Karger, Marko Kureljusic, Arda Cayci, and Kevin Sigmund use the 2017 German federal election as an example to show how the forecast can be optimized by modeling with a self-enforcing network and by including the opinions captured in social media.
This anthology is about showing new algorithms from the fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Artificial Life (KL) and their practical applications. The essential aspect of the volume is that the contributions exemplarily show that and how these new algorithms can be successfully applied to practical problems in very different areas.
